Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western
and North Central for Nebraska
National Weather Service North Platte NE
358 PM CDT Wed Oct 15 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Fire weather concerns remain limited over the next few days owing
to increased low-level humidity and rain/thunderstorm potential.

Scattered rain and thunderstorms become possible late tonight
across far western Nebraska including portions of Zone 204. The
threat for wetting rains appears limited. Greater potential exists
Thursday as morning rain/general thunderstorms favor east of
Highway 83 and afternoon/evening development looks to track along
a slow moving frontal boundary. Latest QPF calls for 0.50-1.00" in
a narrow corridor from southwest through north central Nebraska.

This weekend into early next week, temperatures cool on Saturday
but rebound following a potential widespread frost/freeze Sunday
morning. As a result, fire weather concerns will increase for
Sunday and Monday due to low humidity and breezy winds. The
potential for widespread elevated concerns appears good with
localized near-critical conditions possible. For now, Red Flag
conditions are not forecast but further increases in temperatures
could increase this potential.

A few frontal boundary early next week lead to cooler temperatures
towards Tuesday/Wednesday. This should limit humidity values from
reaching critical levels but continued breezy winds will support
at least elevated concerns through the end of the forecast period.
