Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western
and North Central for Nebraska
National Weather Service North Platte NE
133 PM CDT Sat Oct 11 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Gusty south winds continue this afternoon and evening, with
widespread gusts of 25 to 35 miles per hour expected. However,
humidity values will remain elevated well above criteria today.

Fire weather concerns then increase tomorrow as a cold front moves
through the area. Though cooler temperatures are expected (highs
in the 60s to 70s), much drier air will filter into the area
behind the front. This will lead to humidity values falling to as
low as 20 to 25 percent range across the eastern Panhandle and
western Sandhills. As northwest winds strengthen tomorrow
afternoon (gusts of 25 to 35 miles per hour), elevated to near
critical fire concerns are expected. The greatest concerns will be
across fire weather zones 204 and 210 where the driest air and
strongest winds will overlap.

Cooler temperatures and higher humidity are then expected as we go
into early next week. Though winds remain breezy, fire concerns
are expected to remain lower into midweek. By midweek,
temperatures return to the 70s, though humidity looks to remain
elevated.
