.SHORT TERM /THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT/...
Issued at 309 PM CST Fri Feb 7 2025

Tonight, a strong cold front will move through the forecast
area overnight. There will be a 20 to 30 percent chance for
light snow across northern Nebraska, mainly near and north of
Highway 20. Only a dusting of snow is expected. Lows will fall
to 5 to 10 above across the northwest Sandhills to the mid and
upper teens across the south and southeast. With northwest winds
increasing to 20 to 30 mph later tonight through daybreak, winds
chill values will fall to near 10 below across much of north
central Nebraska and to near zero across the southwest.

Saturday, much colder air will quickly drop south through
Nebraska into Kansas. Northwest winds will be strongest during
the morning into the early afternoon at 20 to 30 with gusts up
to 40 mph. Highs were adjusted down a few degrees to near 25
degrees north central, to the upper 20 to lower 30s across the
south. A lingering chance for light snow in the northeast
through mid morning, otherwise morning cloudiness will turn
mostly sunny in the afternoon.

Saturday night, a disturbance will exist southeast Wyoming and
northern Colorado and move into the southeast panhandle into
west central and southwest Nebraska. Model consensus is for
light snow accumulations less than a half inch possible.

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY/...
Issued at 309 PM CST Fri Feb 7 2025

Sunday, light snow is possible during the morning across
portions of southwest and central Nebraska. Skies will become
mostly sunny in the afternoon with highs recovering to the mid
30s, with near 40 in the southwest.

The next potential for accumulating snowfall arrives Monday
afternoon into Tuesday as an upper trough deepens across the
Northern Plains and drives arctic air southward. NBM
probabilities of 3 inches or greater range from 40 to 60
percent for areas mainly near and south of Highway 2. The
current forecast has POPs as high as 60 to 80 percent Monday
night and cold lows from zero to 8 below.

Bitter cold temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday with highs
Tuesday only 7 to 14 above and the mid to upper teens
Wednesday. Lows each night from zero to around 5 below and wind
chills as low a 10 below to 20 below.

Another system Tuesday night into Wednesday will bring chances
for light snow as the main upper trough swings across the
region. The best potential for accumulating snow will be south
of Highway 2. Highs next Thursday are forecast to moderate into
the 20s to low 30s and the upper 20s to mid 30s Friday along
