Coastal Waters Forecast for the Florida Keys

Florida Bay, Hawk Channel and Straits of Florida from Ocean Reef
to south of Dry Tortugas, and the extreme southeastern Gulf of
America, including The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary

Seas are given as significant wave height, which is the average
height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be
more than twice the significant wave height.

Wave Detail will include details about the period and direction
of origin for the highest energy waves. Long-period swells coming
from a different direction than the wind would be included in the
Wave Detail.

Synopsis for Keys coastal waters from Ocean Reef to Dry Tortugas
417 AM EDT Wed Oct 15 2025

.SYNOPSIS...An early season northeaster is developing east of the
Carolinas as a high pressure system starts to sink southeastward
into the eastern CONUS. Breezes will slacken from moderate to
fresh in the early morning to moderate later tonight as the
pressure gradient weakens. Expect a tighter pressure gradient to
develop tomorrow night to Friday, and fresh breezes are possible
during the first half of the weekend. Drier air pushing south from
the eastern CONUS will keep shower coverage at isolated to
scattered.
