735 FZUS52 KKEY 032020 CWFKEY Coastal Waters Forecast for the Florida Keys National Weather Service Key West FL 420 PM EDT Thu Jul 3 2025 Florida Bay, Hawk Channel and Straits of Florida from Ocean Reef to south of Dry Tortugas, and the extreme southeastern Gulf of America, including The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Seas are given as significant wave height, which is the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. Wave Detail will include details about the period and direction of origin for the highest energy waves. Long-period swells coming from a different direction than the wind would be included in the Wave Detail. GMZ005-040830- Synopsis for Keys coastal waters from Ocean Reef to Dry Tortugas 420 PM EDT Thu Jul 3 2025 .SYNOPSIS...Broad low-level ridging will continue to rebuild over the North Atlantic. This will initially support light to gentle southeast to south breezes across Florida Keys coastal waters and gradually clock around to the southwest and west as trough of low pressure approaches the region from the north. Rain chances will increase by Friday and remain elevated through Saturday evening as a result. As the trough exits the region and lifts northeast starting Sunday, a weak ridge axis will lie across the Florida Keys, resulting in generally light to gentle easterly breezes.
