Florida Bay, Hawk Channel and Straits of Florida from Ocean Reef
to south of Dry Tortugas, and the extreme southeastern Gulf of
Mexico, including The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary

Seas are given as significant wave height, which is the average
height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be
more than twice the significant wave height.

Wave Detail will include details about the period and direction
of origin for the highest energy waves. Long-period swells coming
from a different direction than the wind would be included in the
Wave Detail.

.SYNOPSIS...Hurricane Rafael is gradually making its exit from our
westernmost waters this early morning. As we are writing this at
almost 5 AM local time, the center is approximately 175 miles to
the west southwest of Key West. The fresh to strong southeasterly
breezes will continue to slacken today and tomorrow, and we will
see easterly moderate breezes resume by Friday. There is still
some uncertainty related to an increase in breezes and shower
activity over the weekend, so anyone interested in that timeframe
is encouraged to check future updates.
