.DISCUSSION...We will have a short-lived break from heat and
humidity today and tonight, but it will quickly be followed by a
return of sultry conditions mid to late week. The potential for
showers and thunderstorms returns by Thursday, Independence Day,
and lasts through the weekend. The highest probability of rain is
on Thursday and Friday.

However, an approaching cold front will bring thunderstorms
to some locations, with the greatest probability in south
central and southeast KY. A few storms could produce strong
wind gusts. A short-lived break from the heat and humidity is
forecast behind the cold front on Monday, only to be quickly
followed by a return of sultry conditions. An active period
with showers and thunderstorms is forecast from Wednesday
through Friday. The greatest probability for showers and
thunderstorms appears to be on Thursday, Independence Day.
Heat indices will return to near 100 for many locations during
this time.
