Coastal waters from Altamaha Sound to Fernandina Beach FL out 20 NM... * Until 915 PM EDT. * At 845 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts was located 11 nm southeast of Jekyll Island, or 15 nm southeast of St. Simons Island, moving north at 50 knots. HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts to 40 knots. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves. * Locations impacted include... St Simons Island Village, St Simons Sound Buoy 9, St. Simons Island, Jekyll Island, and Buoy F. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 600 AM EDT for southeastern Georgia...and the adjacent coastal waters. Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts.
