.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1257 PM CDT Wed Aug 27 2025

Tonight through next Tuesday...Quiet conditions will begin the
tonight period. Rain chances will begin increasing after
midnight, with the best chances for showers and storms we`ve had
in some time falling Thursday through Friday night. Even once we
get into Labor Day weekend, decent chances for mainly scattered
showers and isolated storms persist right into Labor Day itself.
This is all as a result of a series of disturbances aloft embedded
in northwest flow, affecting the forecast area the nearly the
entire forecast period.

While this picture paints an off and on wet Labor Day weekend, again
mainly Thursday and Friday, this stretch of rain is much needed and
welcomed across the forecast area. Currently, a widespread 1-3
inches of rainfall looks possible across the CWA, with up to 4
inches possible in localized areas. Some ponding of water in low-
lying and poor drainage areas will be possible where heavier
quicker downpours exist, along with some small rises in some area
rivers during this period. However, both widespread flash flooding
and river flooding are currently not expected.

As far as any severe potential is concerned with these disturbances,
at the moment it remains unimpressive. There will be slightly better
flow and instability with both Thursday and Friday`s disturbances.
However, other than a bit better chance for thunderstorms, with a
few containing some gusty winds, in general, that currently looks to
be the extent. Both instability and flow wane over the Labor Day
weekend into next week, further limiting the potential for thunder
across the area. /19/
