704 FXUS64 KJAN 041114 AFDJAN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Jackson MS 614 AM CDT Mon Aug 4 2025 ...New AVIATION... .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1241 AM CDT Mon Aug 4 2025 While Sunday may have been the most pleasant day of our mid- summer break from the oppressive heat and humidity, today should still offer relatively comfortable conditions. Some areas will start the day with low clouds. Otherwise, a drier airmass remains over much of our region this morning, with dewpoints ranging in the 60s to low 70s. Once again, this will keep heat indices in check through today. There are somewhat better odds for afternoon convection today, mainly in southeast Mississippi, but most locations will remain dry. Looking ahead, warmer daytime temps are in store through this week as mid level ridging builds back in from the west. The warmest conditions will be roughly west of I-55, with temps more seasonable in the east. Moisture will also gradually return, with dewpoints trending back toward low to mid 70s, yielding heat indices of 100- 105F by Tuesday and Wednesday, mainly over western and southern zones where there will be more overlay of warmth and humidity. For now, we`re still not planning to highlight heat stress concerns just yet, but this may be needed later in the week. Through the week, relatively better (but not necessarily high) chances for rain will be most focused over the eastern to southeastern half of the area, with lesser chances farther west where the ridge should exert more influence. On most days, rain coverage will be scattered at best and diurnally driven as is typical this time of year. /DL/ && .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 612 AM CDT Mon Aug 4 2025 VFR conditions continue to prevail in the west with sites in the east prevailing MVFR/IFR due to low ceilings. Low stratus looks to persist through the morning and into the early afternoon, after which VFR should prevail. The same deal repeats tomorrow morning with a return to low stratus in the east early tomorrow morning./SAS/ && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
