Fire Weather Planning Forecast for the Southern Great Lakes
National Weather Service Northern Indiana
411 PM EDT Thu Sep 19 2024

.DISCUSSION...

We continue to be in this drought with MinRH values dipping into the
20 to 40s today through Saturday. There is a chance for some rain
Friday with a cold front arriving, but it`s a low chance. MinRH
values tick up for Sunday with much of the area bottoming out only in
the 40 to 60 percent range. This increase in RH values indicate a
chance for rain and these values look to bottom out around 50 percent
or so into early next week indicating perhaps a low chance for rain
during that period. While fuels continue to remain on the moist
side, grass fires have been reported in various locations over the
last week or two. Wind gusts are expected to remain below 20 mph
limiting evaporation during the day and ventilation for fires.
