...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM CDT THIS
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Dangerous swimming conditions expected.

  * Waves: Waves 3 to 5 feet this morning will subside to 1 to 2
    feet by mid afternoon.

  * Life-threatening rip and structural currents expected,
    especially on the north sides of piers and breakwalls.

  * A strong longshore current flowing from north to south is
    expected.

* WHERE...In Indiana, Northern La Porte county. In Michigan,
  Southern Berrien county.

* WHEN...Until 1 PM CDT this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water
  and high waves can sweep people off piers.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.
Do not venture out on piers.

* WHAT...High wave action, strong currents, and dangerous
  swimming conditions expected. Piers will be heavily swamped by
  waves.

  * Waves: Waves 3 to 4 feet this morning will subside to 1 to 3
    feet by mid afternoon, highest waves south near New Buffalo,
    MI.

  * Life-threatening rip and structural currents expected,
    especially on the north sides of piers and breakwalls.

  * A strong longshore current flowing from north to south is
    expected.

* WHERE...In Indiana, Northern La Porte county. In Michigan,
  Southern Berrien county.

* WHEN...Until 11 AM EDT this morning.

* IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water
  and high waves can sweep people off piers.
