Rating: EF2 Estimated Peak Wind: 112 mph Path Length /statute/: 13.55 miles Path Width /maximum/: 350 yards Fatalities: 0 Injuries: 0 Start Date: 03/19/2025 Start Time: 08:44 PM EDT Start Location: 4 NW Jonesville / Bartholomew County / IN Start Lat/Lon: 39.1056 / -85.946 End Date: 03/19/2025 End Time: 08:57 PM EDT End Location: 4 SSW Hartsville / Bartholomew County / IN End Lat/Lon: 39.2217 / -85.745 Survey Summary: The tornado began near interstate 65 in southern Bartholomew County and continued northeast to near Hartsville before dissipating. Damage was nearly continuous along this path with damage mostly in the EF0 and EF1 categories. However, there were two areas of more intense damage consistent with low end EF2 category, and max wind speeds of 112 mph. Damage at both locations consisted of well built metal farm buildings that had collapsed walls and roofs. Debris at both locations was lofted and thrown anywhere from a quarter to one half mile to the north and northeast. Most county roads where the tornado crossed had several utility poles broken. There were also small metal high transmission towers twisted and bent. However, these were small and not the heavier steel structures. There were also wooden double poles alongside that had no damage. Thus, ratings here were lowered to EF1. && EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the following categories: EF0.....65 to 85 mph EF1.....86 to 110 mph EF2.....111 to 135 mph EF3.....136 to 165 mph EF4.....166 to 200 mph EF5.....>200 mph NOTE: The information in this statement is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the event and publication in NWS Storm Data. $$
