...Forecast flooding changed from Moderate to Major severity and
increased in duration for the following rivers in Indiana...

  East Fork White River at Williams.

  White River at Elliston.

.Forecasts for Williams on the East Fork White and the White River
at Elliston have increased by less than a foot and this is enough to
change the flood category at those locations from moderate to major.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths
occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges,
dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream,
even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route
over higher ground.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL LATE SUNDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...White River at Elliston.

* WHEN...Until late Sunday evening.

* IMPACTS...At 29.0 feet, Major flood is in progress.  High water
  threatens downstream levees.  Some evacuations of rural areas is
  necessary.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 8:00 AM EDT Tuesday the stage was 29.3 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 8:00 AM EDT Tuesday was 29.3 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 29.4
    feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage late
    Sunday morning.
  - Flood stage is 18.0 feet.

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is
  forecast.

* WHERE...East Fork White River at Williams.

* WHEN...Until Wednesday, April 16.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Flood levels approach a serious level.
  Evacuations are necessary for those on lowest knolls.  Flood
  waters cover nearly the entire flood plain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 3:35 PM EDT Monday the stage was 14.1 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 3:35 PM EDT Monday was 14.1 feet.
  - Forecast...The river will rise to 20.3 feet tomorrow evening.
  - Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
