.DISCUSSION...
South to southwest winds will gust from 35-45 mph during this afternoon
north of I-70, and gust from 25-35 mph in southeast IL. Winds will turn
westerly during this evening with passage of a cold front, and remain
breezy tonight and Saturday with gusts to around 30 mph likely.
Strong winds today will result in excellent ventilation rates today, with
good to very good vent rates on Saturday. Relative humidity values to
decrease to around 25% north of Lincoln this afternoon and combined with
strong winds, will result in increased fire danger especially over areas
that missed out in recent rains.
There is a 50-80% chance of thunderstorms east of I-55 from mid
afternoon into mid evening. Any of those storms could turn severe and
produce damaging winds, large hail and possible tornadoes, especially
south of I-72. There is a 20-30% chance of thunderstorms west of I-55
during early to mid afternoon.
