Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central/Southeast Illinois
National Weather Service Lincoln IL
401 AM CST Fri Feb 28 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Elevated fire danger exists today as warm and dry conditions
combined with strong winds. Peak surface gusts are expected to
exceed 40 mph in most areas. Winds will start off southwesterly
but gradually shift to west- northwesterly by mid- afternoon.
Minimum RH values will fall to 25-30% this afternoon, which
combined with the winds could result in unwanted fire spread. In
addition to the strong winds, deep mixing will result in excellent
ventilation today.

A cold front moves through tonight, resulting in much colder
temperatures on Saturday. Ventilation still remains good as
north-northwesterly winds will be sustained around 15 mph. No
precipitation is expected through the weekend, but multiple rain
chances are expected next week.
