Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
626 AM EDT Sun Aug 10 2025

.SYNOPSIS...
High pressure will keep quiescent conditions across the region with
above normal temperatures. A weak cold front will move through
midweek bringing some showers and thunderstorms.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
High pressure at the surface and aloft will persist today. There is
some signal for isolated convection this afternoon, generally from
the I-75 corridor westwards. Highs will be near persistence.

&&

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM MONDAY/...
Little change through the short term. Some river valley fog late at
night. Then development of cumulus during the day with isolated
afternoon showers and thunderstorms, mainly in the western part of
the forecast area. Lows and highs will be quite similar to the
preceding periods.

&&

.LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY/...
Surface high pressure over the eastern seaboard shifts far enough
offshore Monday night into Tuesday that the Ohio Valley will no
longer be under it`s direct influence. Simultaneously, upper level
ridging over the Great Lakes breaks down giving way to troughing for
the mid week. The combination of weak forcing and increased PWATs
should support at least some diurnal shower and storm chances from
the midweek onwards. Thursday afternoon could potentially have the
best coverage with a vorticity max progressing through. Forecast
highs remain in the upper 80s and lows are near 70 through the end
of the week.

&&

.AVIATION /12Z SUNDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
Few to scattered cumulus will develop across the region and then
diminish towards 00Z. An isolated shower or thunderstorm cannot be
ruled out this afternoon. Localized visibility restrictions in fog
will occur at KLUK late in the period.

OUTLOOK...Thunderstorms are possible Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
