Quiet weather and breezy south winds encompassed Kansas today, as
low pressure deepened over the western High Plains. Gusts reached
35 to 40 mph at times over central and western Kansas. Afternoon
temperatures reached the 80s and 90s, coolest over eastern and
northeast portions of the state.

An isolated thunderstorm can`t be ruled out this evening over far
western Kansas, with additional hit-or-miss thunderstorm chances
later tonight into Wednesday morning over central and eastern
Kansas. Most locations should remain dry though. Forecast low
temperatures are in the 60s and low 70s.

For Wednesday, breezy south winds and hot temperatures will
prevail, with forecast high temperatures reaching the 90s to low
100s. Afternoon heat indices will approach 105 degrees over the
western two-thirds of Kansas.
