Scattered showers and thunderstorms impacted portions of eastern
and southeast Kansas today, in vicinity of a weak cold front
approaching from the north. Brief heavy rain and occasional
lightning accompanied the strongest activity. Late afternoon
temperatures were mostly in the 80s across the state, although
upper 70s were noted over far northwest Kansas, and low 90s were
noted over portions of south-central Kansas. Average high
temperatures this time of year are mostly in the low to mid 70s.

Quiet weather will encompass the region tonight, with forecast low
temperatures in the 50s and 60s.

Saturday will feature warm and dry weather with breezy south
winds, as low pressure deepens over the High Plains. Forecast high
temperatures are mostly in the 80s, although cooler 70s are
expected over northeast Kansas. Skies will turn mostly sunny by
afternoon, with southerly wind gusts exceeding 30 mph at times
over central and western portions of the state.
