...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 2013, the historic two day blizzard ended, but not
until many areas in the Black Hills of South Dakota
measured record burying snowfalls. Many accumulations
were astonishing. A phenomenal 58 inches, nearly 5 feet,
buried Beulah, 55 inches overwhelmed Lead, while an even
4 feet walloped Deadwood. The 2-day storm total of 23.1
inches, measured in Rapid City on October 4th and 5th,
wiped out the record 4.8 inches measured on October 30th
and 31st, 2003. In 1988, 13 cities in the central United
States reported record lows for the date. Duluth, MN
plunged to 21 degrees, while Goodland had a high
temperature of only 39 degrees.
