Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
207 AM CDT Sun Oct 6 2024

.DISCUSSION...

After some morning fog, 20 foot winds are expected to be light
and variable. Transport winds between 5 and 10 mph are expected
from the north. Afternoon mixing heights will climb to between 8000
and 9000 feet. Relative humidity values will drop to around 40
percent in the afternoon. Dispersion will be generally good given
high mixing heights expected.

A cold front will push through the area by Monday. This should
bring cooler and drier air back into the area. Highs will only
reach the mid to upper 70s. 20 foot winds from the north will
increase to near 10 mph. Northerly transport winds will also
increase to around 15 mph. Mixing heights in the afternoon will be
lower, but still reach between 4000 and 4500 feet. Afternoon relative
humidity values will drop lower to between 34 and 37 percent.
Dispersion will be good.

Fog potential over the next few days: Some patchy fog is expected
towards daybreak today. With drier air moving into the area
Monday morning, less fog is expected, but could occur south of the
Tennessee River.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None are expected given
afternoon relative humidity values and winds.
