Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
258 AM CDT Wed Aug 20 2025

.DISCUSSION...

A more unsettled day is expected, with a cold front moving across
the area tonight. A very moist airmass over the area will become
more unstable from daytime heating and the approaching cold front.
This will result in scattered to numerous showers and
thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Some of the storms could
become strong to severe in intensity, with strong to damaging
outflow winds the main threat. Locally heavy rainfall with a low
risk of flash flooding, and frequent lightning is also a threat.

Before showers commence, high temperatures should rise into lower
90s, with minimum RHs around 60 percent. Light winds from the
surface to the transport layer will produce Fair smoke dispersion
rates today.

Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy fog is possible in
the overnight and early morning, especially in wind sheltered
locations, and those areas that receive wetting rainfall.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: Not forecast at this time.
