281 FNUS54 KHUN 301957 FWFHUN Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Alabama National Weather Service Huntsville AL 257 PM CDT Sun Jun 30 2024 .DISCUSSION... Showers and thunderstorms will end from N-to-S by early this evening as a cold front progresses southward through the region. However, most locations did experience wetting rainfall today, and patchy/light fog may develop during the early morning hours (if winds diminish sufficiently). A drier and slightly cooler airmass will reside across the TN Valley on Monday and Monday night, before southerly return flow ushers a warm/tropical airmass northward into the region once again on Tuesday. Smoke dispersion indices will be in the generally good-good range both tomorrow and Tuesday, with mixing heights between 4000-5000 ft and transport winds of 10-15 MPH. In the extended period, we expect a hot/humid airmass to remain in place across the region for much of the week, with high afternoon heat index readings in the 100-105F range and daily chances for mainly afternoon/evening thunderstorms. Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy, light fog will be possible in wind-sheltered locations early Monday and Tuesday mornings. Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
