700 FXUS64 KHUN 061003 AFDHUN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Huntsville AL 503 AM CDT Sun Jul 6 2025 ...New AVIATION... .NEAR TERM... (Today) Issued at 142 AM CDT Sun Jul 6 2025 Patchy fog has begun to develop this morning. Expect this to continue through sunrise, particularly in river/creek valley areas. At this time, do not anticipate widespread problems to begin the day. The rest of the forecast looks in good shape for today. 17 Previous Discussion... Another very warm to hot day is in the forecast to start a new week. Under generally sunny to party cloudy skies, high temperatures Sunday afternoon should rise into the low/mid 90s. This heat plus dewpoints around 70 will produce heat index values from the mid 90s to 104 degrees. Will hold off on a Heat Advisory at this time. This heat and resultant instability will produce CAPE values in 1000-3000 J/kg, which could lead to isolated showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Coverage should be less than it was today. && .SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Tuesday) Issued at 1052 PM CDT Sat Jul 5 2025 Another muggy night is forecast for the Valley. Any shower activity should quickly fade after dusk Sunday night. An almost carbon copy of tonight, with lows before daybreak Monday in the upper 60s and lower 70s with light winds. Will add more late night patchy fog. Monday should bring more very warm to hot conditions, with highs in the low/mid 90s, and similar heat indices to Sunday. The heat and available moisture will bring more isolated showers and thunderstorms Mon afternoon and early evening. Monday night lows should cool into upper 60s/lower 70s again. Surface high pressure should be positioned east of the area Monday and Tuesday. A southerly flow rounding the western periphery of the high will return somewhat deeper moisture across the area. This moisture will result in higher chances for showers and storms on Tuesday. && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday night through Saturday) Issued at 1052 PM CDT Sat Jul 5 2025 A somewhat of a pattern change is expected for the midweek and beyond, as a strong upper ridge develops over the Desert SW, and more troughing over the eastern CONUS. With greater lower level moisture from the Gulf moving northward, higher chances for showers and thunderstorms is expected for the mid week into Saturday. Muggy conditions are expected Tue night, with lows in the lower 70s. With more clouds and higher rain chances, high temperatures will be a tad cooler, ranging in the upper 80s to lower 90s for the latter half of the work week. Rain chances should follow a somewhat diurnal trend, higher in the afternoon and evening. && .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 503 AM CDT Sun Jul 6 2025 Prevailing VFR flight weather conditions are forecast. There is a very low chance of SHRA or TSRA after 18Z in northwest AL, but the probability is too low to include in either KMSL or KHSV TAF at this time. && .HUN WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
