.NEAR TERM...
(Tonight and Tomorrow)
Issued at 902 PM CST Thu Nov 27 2025

Troughing aloft paired with a low pressure system at the surface
will continue to push through the NE through the night. Locally
this will maintain NNW flow, allowing a much cooler and drier air
mass to continue to be ushered in. As such, some of the coolest
temperatures of the season will be present tonight as clear skies
allow for temps to drop into the mid 20s area wide.

Through the day tomorrow, winds aloft will back slightly giving
way to zonal flow with high pressure filtering in from the Plains
at the surface. This will support another clear and dry day,
however temperatures will be much cooler. After about 24 hours of
CAA from NW flow, highs will not make out of the 40s tomorrow.
Make sure to dress appropriately tomorrow, especially for those
venturing out early. A full winter coat, hats, and mittens will be
desired for anyone out before sunrise.

.SHORT TERM...
(Friday Night through Sunday Night)
Issued at 902 PM CST Thu Nov 27 2025

Clear skies on Friday night will prompt another cold night with
lows in the mid 20s to low 30s. Fortunately, Saturday will be
slightly warmer as surface flow backs to the SSW ahead of an
approaching cold front. The ever so slight WAA will allow temps to
rise into the low 50s. Cloud cover and rain chances will increase
from the west through the afternoon as the front approaches with
widespread stratiform rain likely across a majority of the area
come Saturday night. Rain will continue through Sunday morning as
the front passes through the TN Valley. Fortunately the prefrontal
cool conditions will largely inhibit any thunder as instability
will be significantly lacking. There will however be gusty
gradient winds present through the night as the associated
upper level low translates east with gusts up to 20-25 MPH.

Rain looks to slowly taper off through the day on Sunday from
west to east. Limited clearing on Sunday will keep highs in the
upper 40s to lower 50s. Despite lingering clouds on Sunday night,
NNW flow behind the front will allow temps to drop back into the
high 20s to low 30s making for a brisk start to the new work week.

.LONG TERM...
(Monday through Thursday)
Issued at 902 PM CST Thu Nov 27 2025

Our main feature to watch in the long term period will be an upper
level trough and subsequent sfc low swinging northeastward through
the southeast U.S. Ensembles are generally agreeing on the presence
of an upper level trough shifting into our area, bringing widespread
shower chances through the TN Valley on Monday night into Tuesday. No
strong of severe storms are forecast with these showers as
instability looks extremely low. The aforementioned sfc low is
forecast to continue NE, out of the area, by Wednesday morning with
sfc high pressure pushing in from the west. While previous model runs
were hinting at some freezing rain potential in southern middle TN,
recent guidance continues to trend drier with model soundings when
temperatures drop below freezing on Tuesday night into Wednesday
morning as the sfc high pressure influences the area. Wednesday and
Thursday are forecast to remain mostly dry-- with low confidence, low
rain chances pushing back into the forecast by Thursday evening
ahead of another low pressure system. Highs during the long term
period are forecast to be in the 40s-50s with overnight lows in the
20s-30s.
