.DISCUSSION...
A high pressure ridge continues to dominate over Central
California, leading to triple digit heat in the lower elevations
and low relative humidity across the region. These triple digits
are expected to continue through today and have a 30 to 50
percent chance of occuring on Monday, as well. Temperatures like
these are well above normal for this time of year. This ridging
is expected to weaken with the arrival of a shortwave into
California beginning Tuesday, resulting in a slight cool down,
though temperatures will continue to be above normal.

This short wave is followed by a larger trough expected to come
in on Friday, which is expected to lower temepratures further
until they are only slightly above normal. The coolest days are
expected to be that day and Saturday, with a 30 to 60 percent
chance of high temperatures being below 85 degrees. This will be
short-lived as next Sunday expects an increase in temperatures
again.

Looking into the long term, above normal temperatures are
expected to continue into the middle of the month, with the
Climate Prediction Center showing a 50 to 70 percent chance for
those above average temperatures. Low relative humidities are
also expected to persist through this time period.
