913 WHUS44 KHGX 102107 CFWHGX Coastal Hazard Message National Weather Service Houston/Galveston TX 307 PM CST Sun Nov 10 2024 TXZ436>439-110300- /O.EXT.KHGX.BH.S.0010.000000T0000Z-241111T0300Z/ Matagorda Islands-Brazoria Islands-Galveston Island- Bolivar Peninsula- 307 PM CST Sun Nov 10 2024 ...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM CST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Elevated swells, large surf, above normal tide levels, and a high risk of rip currents expected. * WHERE...Gulf-facing beaches, including the Matagorda Peninsula, Brazoria County beaches, Galveston Island and the Bolivar Peninsula. * WHEN...Until 9 PM CST this evening. * IMPACTS...Large surf and a high risk of rip currents will make for dangerous swimming conditions. In addition, water levels will run above normal and wave run-up will pose a minor coastal flood threat around times of high tide into Sunday morning. The lowest lying portions and roads along the Bolivar Peninsula including the intersection of Highway 87 at 124, western Galveston Island, Blue Water Highway and Surfside may see some minor overwash around those times. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions. && $$
