A cold front will cross the waters tonight with winds increasing behind it. A period of gales is possible on the outer waters north of Cape Elizabeth. A brief area of high pressure returns Monday but the next storm will follow quickly on its heels. Tuesday snow and rain will overspread the waters as low pressure passes just outside of the Gulf of Maine. Behind it winds will increase and seas will build, and another period of gale force wind gusts is possible.
