...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT TONIGHT...
...REPLACES FLASH FLOOD WARNING...

* WHAT...Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is occurring.

* WHERE...McDowell County in western North Carolina.

* WHEN...Until midnight EDT tonight.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads
  remain closed due to flooding. Local officials have reported water
  rescues.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 357 PM EDT, emergency management reported ongoing
    significant impacts continuing across McDowell County.
    Between 7 and 20 inches of rain fell on Thursday and Friday.
    Rivers and reservoirs across the area remain very elevated.
    Debris flows occurred Thursday and Friday, and emergency
    response continues to perform rescues.  Numerous road
    closures remain in place.

    Streams are no longer rising, but due to continued impacts
    and high flows, this product replaces the previously-issued
    Flash Flood Warning for McDowell County.

    Marion, Old Fort, Lake James, Lake James State Park, B.R.
    Parkway-Craggy To Little Switzerland, B.R. Parkway-Little
    Switzerland To Linville, Linville Falls, Pleasant Gardens,
    Sugar Hill, Glenwood, Woodlawn, Nebo, Fero, Busick, Little
    Switzerland, North Cove, Dysartsville and Ashford.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.

Follow all instructions from county and local emergency response
officials.
