.DISCUSSION...

Strengthening southerly flow on the eastern periphery of a
developing low pressure system in Colorado will foster breezy to
strong south winds this afternoon. While relative humidity
readings are not anticipated to fall below 20-25 percent, south
winds at 20-35 mph (sustained) with gusts up to 45 mph may,
nevertheless, pose a considerable challenge to first responders,
should any fires develop.

Breezy S winds will shift to the SSE or SE after sunset and may
(perhaps) become light and variable for a short period this
evening, as the aforementioned low pressure system tracks over
northwest Kansas. Late this evening and overnight, winds will
abruptly shift to the W (anywhere from WSW to WNW) and strengthen
to 20-30 mph (possibly gusting up to 45 mph).. on the western side
of the departing low pressure system. Winds will further shift to
the NW-NNW by sunrise Friday morning.
