Very late tonight, between midnight and sunrise Wednesday, there is a small chance for thunderstorms mainly within counties along the northern and eastern fringes of our forecast area...or mainly north and east of a line from Ord, to Central City, to Geneva. There are questions regarding how expansive any coverage of storms might be, and it is possible storms could avoid our forecast area altogether. However, if storms do move into parts of our area overnight, there is a Marginal Risk they could be severe, capable of producing wind gusts up to around 60 MPH, and perhaps hail up to around the size of quarters. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday. On Wednesday afternoon, heat index values will rise to around 100 degrees across much of our area, and potentially slightly exceed 100 especially in north central Kansas. Heat will continue to build Thursday and Friday, with more of our area forecast to see heat index climb as high as 100 to 105 degrees, and perhaps localized slightly higher especially Friday. Though a limited potential for thunderstorms returns for Friday night, overall-better chances will arrive between Saturday evening and Sunday night after the passage of a cold front. && More information may be obtained at the following web page: https://www.weather.gov/hastings $$ KSZ005>007-017>019-NEZ082>087-062245- Phillips-Smith-Jewell-Rooks-Osborne-Mitchell-Furnas-Harlan- Franklin-Webster-Nuckolls-Thayer- 534 PM CDT Tue Aug 5 2025 This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of north central Kansas, along with far south central Nebraska counties along the state line. .DAY ONE...Overnight.
