.DISCUSSION...
Outside of scattered showers moving through far northern portions of
the forecast area early this morning, the daytime hours today look to
be dry for most locations. The exception to that may be along a
surface cold front that will be pushing southeast across the area
today...and may be the focus for isolated/scattered activity late
this afternoon-early evening.
The main concern for this short term period lies with the passage of
this cold front and the switch in winds and drier dewpoints. The
timing of the front brings into western areas mid-late morning,
roughly through the Tri-Cities area early afternoon, to far SE areas
by late afternoon. Expect continued gusty SSW winds ahead of this
front...which will usher in a switch to gusty NW winds as it passed.
Gusts near 30 MPH will be possible on both sides of the
front...speeds along the front will be lighter, and more westerly in
nature. Highs today are expected to reach into the 80s, potentially
near 90 in SErn areas. Dewpoints behind the front are expected to
drop into the 30s and 40s, and though temps aren`t as high, the
resulting relative humidity values for areas especially west of
Highway 183 look to drop into the low-mid 20 percent range. Relative
humidity values across central/eastern areas look to bottom out in
the low-mid 30 percent range.
