.DISCUSSION...

KEY MESSAGES:

- Arctic air continues with a Cold Advisory across the Hi-Line
through this morning for wind chills as low as 30 below zero.

- More seasonable temperatures return by Tuesday.

- Increasing chances for light snow Tuesday and Friday/Saturday.

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:
Shortwave sliding through the northwest flow over the region will
spin up an Alberta clipper later today. This clipper will dive
south tonight and Tuesday, with a warm front and downslope
bringing warming temperatures through Tuesday. Cold front passage
late on Tuesday will bring another arctic high into the northern
plains for Wednesday.

Snow chances will be limited with this system, favoring slightly
more upslope regions of southern Montana as the shortwave moves
across the state on Tuesday.

Pattern into the weekend will continue to feature alternating
arctic highs and clippers in between the strong Hudson Bay low and
east Pacific high. Temperature swings and occasional precipitation
is expected.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:
Confidence is high for significant warming in temperatures through
Tuesday, while still low to moderate for potential precipitation
type and amounts late in the week.
