478 FXUS65 KGGW 281043 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 343 AM MST Fri Feb 28 2025 .DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGES: - A Flood Watch remains in effect for the the Yellowstone River due to possible ice jams. - Temperatures remain well above normal through Sunday. - Temps cool to slightly above normal Monday onward due to a cold front with some precipitation possible Monday night/Tuesday. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Today through Sunday, an upper ridge will move east across Montana as it weakens. This will allow for temps above normal with dry conditions. Monday morning, a cold front will drop into the region from the NW allowing for cooler conditions. temps will move closer to seasonal norms from hear onward. Monday afternoon into Tuesday, a disturbance passing over the cold front will bring a small chance for precipitation with any rain quickly transitioning to snow. Liquid precipitation amounts will be less than a tenth of an inch with snow amounts less than an inch, except around Little Rockies of southwest Phillips county where maybe 2 inches might be possible. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: No deviations were used this forecast cycle. GAH && .AVIATION... LAST UPDATED: 1045Z FLIGHT CAT RANGE: VFR - MVFR LLWS: Weak surface winds and strong winds aloft may make some low level wind shear is possible through 15Z this morning but will be spotty if it does occur. DISCUSSION: Mainly mid to high clouds across the area. Main exception will be some backdoor low stratus that may make it as far southwest as KSDY from roughly 15-21Z today. Low stratus could return again Saturday morning 06-15Z, but current confidence is low. WIND: W to NW at 5-15 kts early this morning through early afternoon.
