DECEMBER 2024 BROUGHT WARMER AND WETTER THAN NORMAL CONDITIONS TO
NORTHEAST WASHINGTON AND THE NORTH IDAHO PANHANDLE.  THERE WERE
SEVERAL ROUNDS OF RAIN AND MOUNTAIN SNOW THROUGH THE MONTH, WITH
ONLY A COUPLE LIGHT LOWER ELEVATION SNOW EVENTS.  THE MILD
TEMPERATURES WAS DUE TO PREVALENT SOUTHWEST FLOW WITH MOST ROUNDS OF
PRECIPITATION.  ON THE 7TH LIGHT FREEZING RAIN FELL OVER MUCH OF THE
REGION WITH ICE ACCUMULATIONS LESS THAN A TENTH OF AN INCH.  DURING
THE MORNING HOURS OF THE 9TH AND 10TH FREEZING DRIZZLE LEAD TO ICY
CONDITIONS CONTRIBUTING TO SOME AREA ACCIDENTS.  ON THE 18TH
A STRONG COLD FRONT DELIVERED HIGH WINDS AND POWER OUTAGES. A TREE
FELL ON HIGHWAY 2 NEAR AIRWAY HEIGHTS WITH A VEHICLE HITTING THE
TREE THEN SWERVING OFF THE ROAD.  THERE WERE REPORTS OF DOWNED TREES
IN SPOKANE AND LOON LAKE AS WELL.  PEAK GUSTS INCLUDE 67 MPH AT THE
SPOKANE AIRPORT, 56 MPH POST FALLS, 48 MPH WELLPINIT.  ON THE 26TH
RAINY AND WINDY CONDITIONS OCCURRED WITH PRECIPITATION BEGINNING AS
SNOW IN MANY VALLEYS WITH LIGHT ACCUMULATIONS.  SPOKANE AIRPORT
GUSTED TO 56 MPH.  ON THE 29TH AND 30TH A BAND OF MODERATE PRECIPITATION
PERSISTED OVER THE SPOKANE AND COEUR D`ALENE AREAS WITH SEVERAL REPORTS
OF PRECIPITATION AMOUNTS BETWEEN 1.00-1.20 INCHES.  PRECIPITATION CHANGED
TO SNOW TOWARDS THE END OF THE EVENT WITH LOCAL SNOW AMOUNTS AS HIGH AS
2 TO 3 INCHES.

NO RECORDS WERE SET DURING THE MONTH AT THE SPOKANE AIRPORT.
