Grass Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Fort Worth TX
1258 AM CDT Sun Apr 13 2025

...ELEVATED FIRE THREAT THIS AFTERNOON WEST OF US 281...

Abnormally hot conditions are forecast across western North Texas
and the Big Country this afternoon with highs in the 90s. In
addition, breezy southerly winds of 15-25 mph and gusts of 30-40
mph are expected during the afternoon. Due to the resultant low
humidity and gusty winds, fire weather conditions will become
elevated west of US 281 this afternoon. The modest fuel conditions
from the spring green-up should aid in limiting the rapid growth
and spread of wildfires, and will prevent a critical or extreme
fire threat.

Extreme care is urged during all outside activities where there
is a potential for grass fires to get started. Avoid outside
burning and welding. Do not toss lit cigarette butts outside.
Report wildfires to the nearest fire department or law
enforcement office quickly.
