Near record to record temperatures continue this afternoon, with southwesterly winds now gusting over 30 mph throughout the red flag warning area. However, surface dew points have remained higher than previously forecast, holding up relative humidity values. However, not anticipating any changes to the ongoing headlines this afternoon and early evening as wildfire danger remains critical. Widespread precipitation is expected through the weekend with much of the area likely seeing 0.50" or more of rainfall. This will temper fire concerns into early next week. People are urged to exercise extreme care with respect to outdoor activities that could cause grass fires. Avoid equipment that can cause sparks near dry grass or brush. Do not toss cigarettes on the ground. Report new fires quickly to the nearest fire department or law enforcement office.
