A stretch of dry weather is ahead for the next several days into next week. Occasional breezy days will help dry out topsoil and allow seasonal curing of fine fuels to progress. For now, fuels are still sufficiently green to limit Grassland Fire Danger Index to Moderate on the breezier days, but this could change more rapidly over the coming weeks with warmer and drier conditions favored into the 8-14 day outlook. Marginal weather conditions or lowering moisture content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there is some potential for a fire to spread. Any outdoor burning should be closely monitored. OUTLOOK FOR FRIDAY AFTERNOON...The Grassland Fire Danger Index will reach the moderate category. The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native grasses.
