468 FNUS63 KFSD 010908 RFDFSD Rangeland Fire Danger Statement National Weather Service Sioux Falls SD 408 AM CDT Tue Oct 1 2024 .DISCUSSION... Winds will be light today, first starting out from the north- northwest, transitioning towards westerly by midday and ending southerly by the evening hours. The afternoon hours will again see widespread relative humidity values ranging from 15 to 25 percent, but with the weaker winds the GFDI remains in the moderate category. Wednesday will see breezy southwesterly winds to start off the day, gusting 25 to 40 mph throughout the morning hours before weakening in the afternoon. Timing of the critically low relative humidity values is a bit uncertain, but if they are able to quickly establish themselves in the morning hours the GFDI will climb into the very high category, but for now the GFDI remains in the high category area-wide. Warm and dry conditions continue into the beginning of next week. The grassland fire danger product reflects fire danger for native grasses.
