This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for northwest Iowa, west central
Iowa, southwest Minnesota, northeast Nebraska, central South
Dakota, east central South Dakota, south central South Dakota and
southeast South Dakota.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Hot and humid conditions continue for this 4th of July holiday, with
afternoon heat index readings peaking in the 90s. Take precautions
to prevent heat illness if spending time outdoors.

An approaching cold front will trigger thunderstorms over central
South Dakota by mid to late afternoon. A few strong to severe storms
will be possible as the storms move into southeast South Dakota this
evening, with isolated damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph as the
primary threat. The main time period of concern will be 5 pm through
9 pm.

Storms are expected to weaken as they approach Interstate 29 late
in the evening, but additional development along and east of I-29
overnight may result in locally heavy rainfall and perhaps isolated
urban flooding.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Storms will linger mainly east of I-29 into Saturday. The risk for
severe weather is low, but locally heavy rain is possible.

Additional storms are possible late Monday into Tuesday. While
details are uncertain, a few strong to severe storms may develop.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is not expected at this time.
