.DISCUSSION...
Breezy conditions continue across the area today, with gusts of
25-35 mph expected. Locally higher gusts up to 40 mph can`t be
ruled out. Temperatures are also expected to be much warmer, with
highs in the mid-70s to low-80s this afternoon. This will all
lead to a high fire danger across the area, but there are some
limiting factors. First, showers are possible (30-60% chance)
this morning along and east of the James River, and again this
afternoon mainly east of I-29 (20-50% chance). Relative humidity
values this afternoon will also generally be higher today, around
40-60%. However, some spots along the Missouri River valley into
south-central South Dakota could see RH values drop to 35% so
there could be a locally enhanced fire weather danger in those
areas.
Cooler temperatures and lighter winds arrive tonight into
tomorrow, so the fire weather concerns will be much lower heading
into Monday. More rain chances are set to return on Tuesday as
temperatures remain cool.
