Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ
420 AM MST Sun Apr 6 2025

.SYNOPSIS...Light northerly winds will stick around this afternoon
as the low pressure system that brought showers yesterday
continues to move eastward. High pressure will build across the
Southwest through the week, bringing above normal temperatures
through the period. Dry conditions and generally light winds are
also forecast through the next several days.

&&

.DISCUSSION...The low that brought showers/storms across portions
of northern Arizona on Saturday is now centered over the Texas
Panhandle. With the exit of this trough, high pressure will
gradually start to push in from the West Coast. This pattern
change will bring a warming/drying trend through the end of the
week, with chances for record breaking high temperatures by
Thursday and Friday. Even if daytime highs don`t set a new daily
record, temperatures are anticipated to be 10-20 degrees above
normal by mid-week.

Taking a look beyond the extended forecast, the cluster analysis
indicates some sort of trough moving in across the Pacific
Northwest. Although there is agreement on this potential pattern
change, there is many differing opinions on the strength/trajectory
of this disturbance. In short, temperatures could slightly dip
next weekend with elevated southwest winds.
