958 FXUS65 KFGZ 071301 AFDFGZ Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 601 AM MST Sat Jun 7 2025 .SYNOPSIS...Warmer and mainly dry conditions continue into next week. Expect generally light winds through the weekend, gradually increasing through the week. && .DISCUSSION...Increasing heights are expected along with some dry air aloft, bringing an end to our very active weather week. Expect warming temperatures and generally light winds with afternoon breezes. Meanwhile, low pressure located just off of the central California coast will remain nearly stationary through the weekend. This low will weaken and open up int a trough as it starts to move to the east on Sunday. This will tighten up the pressure gradient and increase west to southwest winds across the region. One thing this trough lacks as it moves through northern Arizona is moisture. Any showers that do develop look to be high based and mainly towards the state lines near Utah and New Mexico. Some of the higher resolution models are a little more robust on shower activity, but keeps it confined to the higher terrain and along the borders through the first half of the week. The second half of the week brings a return to more zonal flow with a trough developing across the west. Tighter pressure gradients will return and increased southwest winds are expected. Additionally, this pattern looks to dry us out even more and there may be some fire weather concerns towards the end of the week. && .AVIATION...Saturday 07/12Z through Sunday 08/12Z...VFR conditions no precipitation expected.
