Melting of snow and runoff of the water this afternoon will freeze on roads tonight creating areas of slick and dangerous road conditions. In addition, roads in shady areas, especially on secondary roads, hilly terrain and north-facing slopes, remain ice covered and will remain slick and dangerous through the night. Cloud cover Thursday will limit melting during the morning. But fortunately, temperatures are expected to rise above freezing around midday and remain above freezing until around 8 PM after which temperatures will fall back into the mid to upper 20s. Unnecessary driving after 6 PM is strongly discouraged. If you have to drive, use extreme caution. Proceed slowly and allow extra distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. Heed any messages from local officials on road closures and driving conditions. $$
