.DISCUSSION...

Good afternoon, Sara! The main driver of the sensible weather
tomorrow will be a cold air damming wedge continuing to spread from
the lee side of the Appalachians into north Georgia. As such,
temperatures will be significantly cooler than normal for early
August, with highs at the site forecast to reach 72 degrees in the
middle of tomorrow afternoon and at the start of the event.
Temperatures are expected to linger in the low 70s through the
duration of the event. A moist airmass will also contribute to
relative humidity values around 95 percent from 5-7 PM, increasing
to 98 percent by 8 PM. WInds are forecast to be from the east at 5-7
mph with gusts of 10-14 mph.

Numerous showers are expected to persist across the area tomorrow
into tomorrow night, with a 60-70 percent chance of rain during the
event. A few thunderstorms will also be possible, though the
influence of the wedge should serve to limit surface-based
instability, making the occurrence of lightning sparse and limiting
the chances of gusty winds or severe weather. Forecast additional
rainfall amounts are between 0.25-0.5 inch. However, locally higher
totals could be observed if stronger storms occur or if showers and
thunderstorms continually train over the site over the course of the
day. Localized flash flooding could be possible in this case,
warranting a Flood Watch at the event site until 8 PM tomorrow
evening. How precipitation develops and evolves over the course of
the day tomorrow will warrant monitoring in advance of the event.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or
concerns.
