.DISCUSSION...

Dreary conditions are forecast for Tuesday and Tuesday evening in
Athens. Light to moderate rain showers and scattered thunderstorms
will be ongoing through the afternoon persisting into the evening
hours roughly between 3 to 10 PM. While severe weather is not
anticipated, frequent lightning and gusty winds up to 40 MPH may
accompany any thunderstorms that develop. Rain showers and
scattered thunderstorms may also be capable of producing heavy
rainfall at times and a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 4) for Excessive
Rainfall is in effect for much of North Georgia, including
Athens, for Tuesday. Outside of any weather, winds will be from
the south at less than 10 MPH through the day and evening. Skies
will be partly to mostly cloudy all day. Any breaks in the clouds
may act to increase instability thereby increasing the likelihood
of thunderstorm chances in the area during the afternoon.
