755 FNUS72 KFFC 281606 FWSFFC Spot Forecast for Old Federal 2...USFS National Weather Service Peachtree City GA 1106 AM EST Fri Feb 28 2025 Forecast is based on forecast start time of 1100 EST on February 28. If conditions become unrepresentative...contact the National Weather Service. .DISCUSSION... Good afternoon. Continued dry conditions are expected across north Georgia today and through the weekend. RH at the burn site will be around 33 percent at 11 AM, dropping below 25 percent between 1 and 2 PM. Minimum RH values are forecast to be 20 percent in the mid to late afternoon. 20 ft winds from NW at 3 mph will shift to W at 5-6 mph by noon and increase to 7-9 mph by 2 PM and through the remainder of the afternoon. Occasional gusts up to 18 mph will be possible this afternoon, as well. Transport winds are currently NW at 7 mph, and will shift to W at 10-14 mph this afternoon. These winds, combined with mixing heights topping out just above 5000 ft, will lead to good smoke dispersal this afternoon. Clear skies will persist through the overnight hours, and maximum RH values will remain under 65 percent. This will prevent any fog formation over the burn site. Winds overnight will shift to S at around 5 mph before becoming light and variable in the early morning. A dry cold front will sweep across the area early on Saturday. RH values will drop to near 25 percent once again during the afternoon. NW winds will increase after frontal passage, with 20 ft winds of 10- 15 mph and gusts of 25-30 mph in the afternoon. Because of these RH values, winds, and very dry fuels, a Fire Weather Watch will likely be coming in the afternoon forecast update, which could be upgraded to a Red Flag Warning in subsequent updates. Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions or concerns. .REST OF TODAY... Sky/weather.........Sunny (0-10 percent). CWR.................0 percent. Chance of thunder...MISSING.
