.DISCUSSION...
No hazardous fire weather concerns are expected at this time.
Relative humidity values and winds will remain outside of critical
thresholds.
Widespread rain has overspread much of north and central Georgia,
and is expected to continue into the morning hours. Additional
rainfall amounts of 0.5-1.5 inches can be expected, with the highest
totals in central Georgia. Rain is anticipated to clear from west to
east by the early afternoon. No thunderstorms are expected with this
system, just a steady cold rain. Even as the cold front clears the
forecast area, mostly cloudy to overcast skies will be slow to
improve and minimum RH values will range from 60-80 percent in the
afternoon. Winds will be NW behind the front, increasing to 8-12 mph
in the afternoon. Occasional gusts of 20-25 mph will also be
possible in the higher elevations of far north Georgia.
On Wednesday, the influence of high pressure to the north of the
area will promote dry conditions and partly cloudy skies. Minimum RH
values will range from around around 45-60 percent, with the highest
values in the far east portions of the forecast area. Winds will be
N to NW at 3-6 mph in the morning, becoming lighter and W in the
afternoon with closer proximity to the high. Mixing heights are
forecast to peak between 2.5-3.5 kft on Wednesday afternoon.
