.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Monday)
Issued at 213 AM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025

Short Term...

Key Message:

- Gusty wind will allow for wind chills as low as the mid 20s this
morning with calm but cold conditions again tonight into Monday
morning.

The pressure gradient remains tight over South Central Texas as an
upper level low slowly shifts east of the area through the day
today. Northwest wind around 15 to 35 mph will persist through the
morning, with some wind gusts up to around 40 mph. Winds will
slightly weaken through the afternoon hours, but really drop off
this evening as surface high pressure moves over the area.

Temperatures early this morning will be unseasonably cold, in the
30s for the southern Edwards Plateau and Hill Country and in the 40s
elsewhere. Circling back to our gusty wind, wind chills values in
the coldest locations could feel as low as the mid-20s around
sunrise. Quite the difference from last night where lows were in the
50s and 60s. Highs this afternoon will be the coolest of the week
ranging from the mid and upper 50s north to the mid and upper 60s
south. Cloudy skies this morning should start to clear this
afternoon at least allowing for a bit of sunshine with the breezy
and cool weather.

Clear skies and light wind tonight will allow temperatures to tank
again into the low 30s north to mid 30s south. A few spots in the
Hill Country will see a few hours of near 32F temps and possibly a
light freeze. Clear skies and a slight warm up are seen Monday with
temperatures mostly in the 70s for South Central Texas.

.LONG TERM...
(Monday night through Saturday)
Issued at 213 AM CDT Sun Apr 6 2025

Dry and warm conditions are expected for the long term period with a
north to northwest flow aloft. At the surface, a light southeast
flow is anticipated from Monday night through at least Wednesday
morning. Winds increase from the south on Wednesday afternoon in
response to a mid level short wave pushing across the Southern
Plains. The short wave continues to advance to the south into South
Central Texas and sends a Pacific cold front our way on Thursday.
Northerly winds and gusts are expected to increase in the wake of
boundary Thursday afternoon with winds ranging from 15 to 25 mph
with gusts of 30 to 40 mph. Winds begin to ease overnight. Dry
conditions persist in the wake of the frontal passage with
temperatures cooling a little bit on Friday but coming back up for
the weekend as southerly winds return as surface high pressure stays
to the east of the local area. A wind event is shaping for Saturday
into Sunday at least across the Rio Grande, Southern Edwards
Plateau, and Hill Country with southerly winds in the 15 to 25 mph
and gusts of 30 to 45 mph. Time will tell.
