Fire Weather Planning Forecast for New Mexico and Far West Texas

.DISCUSSION...

Cooler today behind last night`s cold frontal passage. Dry conditions
continue with plenty of sunshine, and low relative humidity. Winds
will be much lighter. Temperatures will be about 10 degrees cooler this
afternoon, and below normal. RH will be up a bit, but still low. Warmer
and drier Monday, then another strong cold front will push in Monday
night. This will be a dry system for most of the region, with slight
chances for snow over northern and eastern areas Monday night. The rest
of the week will be cooler than normal, with very cold mornings. The
weekend will warm back to normal and above, with dry weather continuing,
and potential for increasing winds.

**On or about February 1, 2025, the NWS will discontinue Haines Index
  and Lightning Activity Level(LAL) in all Fire Weather Products. The
  discontinuation is due to the new science demonstrating the forecast
  information is best assessed through other forecast fields.**
