The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a

* Dust Storm Warning for...
  Southwestern Otero County in south central New Mexico...
  East central Luna County in southwestern New Mexico...
  Southern Dona Ana County in south central New Mexico...
  El Paso County in western Texas...

* Until 600 PM MDT.

* At 357 PM MDT, an area of blowing dust was over West El Paso.

  HAZARD...Near zero visibility with strong winds up to 40 to 50 mph.

  SOURCE...New Mexico State Police.

  IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel.

* This includes the following highways...
   Interstate 10 in New Mexico between mile markers 110 and 164.
   Interstate 10 in Texas between mile markers 1 and 32.
   Interstate 25 in New Mexico between mile markers 1 and 9.
   Highway 70 in New Mexico between mile markers 150 and 156.
   Highway 54 in New Mexico between mile markers 1 and 32.

Locations impacted include...
West El Paso, East El Paso, Central El Paso, Northeast El Paso, Far
East El Paso, Mission Valley, Chaparral, Horizon City, Santa Teresa,
Vado, Orogrande, Las Cruces, Anthony, Hueco Tanks, White Sands
Missile Range Headquarters, Sunland Park, Afton, Anthony Gap, NMSU
Main Campus, and Canutillo.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility
reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If
caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your
foot off the brake.

Motorists should not drive into a dust storm. PULL ASIDE STAY ALIVE!
