The National Weather Service in El Paso has issued a

* Dust Storm Warning for...
  West central Otero County in south central New Mexico...
  Northeastern Dona Ana County in south central New Mexico...

* Until 745 PM MDT.

* At 644 PM MDT, a dust channel was 4 miles northwest of White Sands
  National Park, and is nearly stationary.

  HAZARD...Less than a quarter mile visibility with strong wind in
           excess of 50 mph.

  SOURCE...Public.

  IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel.

* This includes the following highways...
   Highway 70 in New Mexico between mile markers 173 and 212.
   Highway 54 in New Mexico between mile markers 29 and 64.

Locations impacted include...
White Sands National Park, Orogrande, Alamogordo, Holloman Air Force
Base, Boles Acres, and Oro Grande Range Complex.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility
reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If
caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your
foot off the brake.

Motorists should not drive into a dust storm. PULL ASIDE STAY ALIVE!
